1870s photos of Jean Brown (1866-)
I purchased the subject photos of a young girl, described below:
1. 1871 studio portrait taken by C. E. Larkin, Elmira, NY, identified on the back of the mount:
"Feb 21st 1871

Age 5 yrs"
2. 1878 studio portrait taken by C. Tomlinson, Elmira, NY, identified on the back of the mount:

3. Circa 1870s studio portrait taken by Larkin, Elmira, NY, identified on the back of the mount:
"Jean Brown"
This individual is listed in the 1870 and 1880 Census data for Elmira, Chemung Co., NY.Born 1866 in NY, she was the daughter of John Smith Brown and Mary Gulick, born 19 Apr 1842 in NY, died 13 Feb 1921.Based on the inscriptions, these photos may have once belonged to Jean's aunt, Fanny Gulick.Purchased along with these photos was a wedding announcement sent by Jean's mother, which reads as follows:
"Mrs. M. Gulick Brown
announces the marriage of her daughter,
Jean
to
Mr. Samuel Potter Burrill
Tuesday, April tenth, 1888.

Mr. Burrill is listed as a widowed man in the 1900 Census data for Rochester (resided at 48 Chestnut Street), Monroe Co., NY, employees as an editor.I don't know when Jean died or if she had any children.
