Rita. Thanks so much for your excellent overview of the various Brown lines that you discussed. It is those kinds of posts that really help to properly "segregate" and "define" the various Brown families in America.
Just FYI....There is some ongoing research on the Browns in the Lunenburg Co., VA area.We know that DNA "Group 10" and DNA "Group 69" (on the Brown Genealogy Society website) had a "presence" there....and probably other Brown families did, as well. The "Group 10" Browns, headed by a Henry Brown and his wife Elizabeth, were in the part of Lunenburg that became Mecklenburg Co., VA in the later-1760s (that Henry Brown "II," a son of Henry Brown "I" and Keziah Jones, had moved to Lunenburg around 1762 from Essex Co., VA). There was also a Thomas Brown in Lunenburg/Meklenburg Co., VA who married Mary Pettus. While I see no actual proof at this time, there are several clues that suggest that this Thomas Brown MAY have been a member of "Group 10," as well.As I recall, there is no real proof at this time as to which "DNA Brown family" the Israel Brown in Lunenburg Co., VA belonged.I wish that a male Brown that overall family would take the DNA test.It seems very doubtful, however, that Israel Brown was a member of DNA "Group 10."
There were some members of DNA "Group 10" who were eventually in the Elbert and Wilkes Co., GA (and surrounding) areas. These included the four brothers who were sons of a John Brown, and they were named Meredith G. Brown (married a Mary Glover up in Wilkes Co., NC), Peter Brown (one of Peter's living male Brown descendants matches DNA "Group 10"), Fannin Brown and John George Washington Brown. There was also a later man in the family who was named Killis Brown (son of the above Peter Brown, if I recall correctly).Have you "encountered" these Browns in your GA research? One of the men in that area who was named Benjamin Brown may have been a brother of the referenced father named John Brown, but that is just an "educated guess" at this point in time (but there was also another Benjamin Brown in the area who was NOT related to the above men; that unrelated Benjamin Brown is said to have been born in Orange Co., VA, and to have served in the Rev War out of NC).Some think that the father of the above four brothers named John Brown came into America from Ireland in SC in the 1760s, but I believe that this family "traces back" to Old Rappahannock/Essex Co., VA in the 1600s....just like all of the other members/donors in DNA "Group 10."
It APPEARS that the brothers named Pollard Brown and Robert Brown were members of DNA "Group 47" (one of at least four unrelated Brown families in Culpeper Co., VA in the 1700s....DNA "Groups" 10, 33, 47 and 55).Known members of "Group 47" in Culpeper included Garfield Brown (who had apparently lived previously in Louisa Co., VA) and a John Brown who married (as his second wife) a Phoebe Brown (Phoebe was a known member of DNA "Group 10;" a living male Brown descendant of one of Phoebe's brothers....William Ambrose Brown....took the DNA test, and that DNA donor matched "Group 10").This does not appear to be the only case in VA where two unrelated Brown families intermarried. In addition, it seems that SEVERAL unrelated Brown families in VA had "connections by marriage" back to the same Robert Coleman "I"/Elizabeth Grizzell and Robert Coleman "II"/Ann Spilsbe family.
