Hi everyone,
Looking for information concerning Elizabeth Brown (Key) who is supposed to be the daughter of James Brown. She was born abt. 1820 and married my ancestor Robert Key sometime shortly after 1840.
We know that she was indeed at least half-Cherokee Indian, possibly more than half. We believe that her mother was full Cherokee Indian and that James himself may be have already been half-Cherokee.
We suspect that these Browns were in the same counties as our Key family... Clinton, Cumberland, Wayne Counties, KY or perhaps Fentress, Morgan Counties, TN. Lots of Browns in these areas... lots of James Browns.
