Cheryl L. Brown of Lake Zurich for 32 years A memorial service for Cheryl L. Brown (nee Strohschein), 62, will be held at 12 noon Saturday, Oct. 20, at Peace Lutheran Church, 1050 Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich. Born June 9, 1945, in Wyandotte, Mich., she died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at her home. Cheryl had worked for the United States Bureau of Census for more than 29 years and was a former elementary school teacher in Oak Park and Cicero. Cheryl also substitute taught and did volunteer work at Sarah Adams School in Lake Zurich. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she had served on the Social Outreach Committee and was a member of the church choir. She was former president of the Chicago Synod Women's Organization of the E.L.C.A., was a founding member of Cub Scout Pack #237 and a former Brownie leader. Survivors include her husband, Don L. Brown; son, Christopher A. (Sandra Bittner) Brown; daughter, Wendy (Erik Thornton) Brown; sister, April (Tom) Alliston; brother, Michael (Monica) Strohschein; two nieces; and four nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for Peace Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements were made by Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, Lake Zurich, 847-540-8871.
