Hi Gwendolyn,
Yes, all that I reported to you was from documents...town, books, diaries. This book also documents his involvement in the military etc.Plus I have the history of the house transference.I am only at my sisters through dinner tonight and my sister is not into genealogy only has the book because of the significance to her home.
You mention after 1741...Jonathan Sr died Sep 26, 1799, Abigail Russell Brown died Apr 23, 1803. I found a note in this book from a page of Jonathan Browns' bible:
Starts off Jonathan Brown Jr & Lucretia Bugbee marry Oct 4, 1810.....the last entry on the page states"
Note: Jonathan and Abigail Brown burial in ___ now south of first small fir tree in oldest section - from north zone in back of Issachor, marker and flag at this stone.
I believe my sister went to the grave site its not far from this house...She is tending the horses currently so I cannot ask her where it is.
Mass Soldiers abnd Sailors pg 654 has a detailed blurbs about several Jonathan Browns'.
In the documentation it states that Deacon David Brown son of James 4th b Jan 21, 1752, d Nov 3, 1829 married a Molly Watson Nov 23, 1777.
Their children in brief were:Samuel Watson Nov 28 1779, Nabby Jun 3 1782, Mary Apr 25, 1784, Rebecca Jul 11, 1786, David Jul 12, 1788, James July 30, 1790, Cyrel May 26, 1792-1794, Lydia Apr 9, 1794-1795, Lydia Berthia Nov 27, 1795, Cyrel Read Apr 5, 1798.I believe this is from a book entitled Town of Brimfield, Hampden Co
I can tell you this house was in the Brown family for generations....Dec 1746 Jonathan Brown bought land [44 acres with buildings]...1802 house transfers from Jonathan to Bartholomew (son) by virtue of Jonathans' will.House transfers again to Daughin Brown Apr 1810 then 1838 to John Paine Jr [I believe he married a Brown daughter] etc etc....
I found a letter in the book from the Loren Brown of Perrysburg Ohio it states: Enclosed are numerous copies of documents regarding my early Brown family, from the widow Christian Brown's arrival to the new world in 1637 to John Brown (one of Jonathan and Abigails' sons) who moved to Norwich, New York late in his life....
I hope this helps a bit....
Elaine
