Austin - I cannot find eithr a John nor a James brown born in the time frame (1785 / 1787) that you indicate in your e-mail.In addition, you have them on Mt. Desert Isl. abt. 1765 - nearly 20 years bef. your listed birth years - please check your dates. The earliest BROWN that I have in my genealogy research is Thomas - he arrived on what was then known as South Fox Island (today known as Vinalhaven) in 1767 and resided on land known then as City Point...he was called Doctor Brown - he d. in 1825 and is buried there. He was first married to Mercy Mayo and later to Mary Hopkins - he had 20 children - one named James b. 1777.I hope this is of some help - feel free to get back with me.
