This deed proves that William Brown of Western Prong Church area was indeed the father of James Brown, father of William Wynn Brown (1806-1894), of Columbus Co, NC.
I am a descendent of William Wynn Brown (1806-1894), of Columbus Co, NC. Some BROWN family researchers believe that this early William Brown ((1748-1796), of the Western Prong area (located in present day northern Columbus Co, NC), is the son of William Brown (1708-1779) and Charity Holmes (1710-1782), of Martin Co, NC. William Brown, of Martin Co, NC left a will in 1779.
11/10/1779: Will of William Brown signed.
wife: Charity Brown
Sons: Abner, James, William
Daughters: Charity Stephens, Mary Everett, Elizabeth Bryan
grandchildren: Elizabeth Brown, Mary Everett
Ex: son Abner Brown

I'd like to hear from anyone who can add anything to what I have so far gathered. I'm especially interested in any documentation that links William Brown, of Bladen Co, to William Brown, of Martin Co, NC.
Please let me hear from you.
