Vincent L. Triggs is my cousin. His mother Lucille Bishop married John Robert Triggs son of Abijah Triggs who was a brother to my great-grandfather, Jacob Jay Triggs who married Lillian Mae Brower.
The last time I talked with Vince he was living in Madison, Wisconsin.
My great-grandparents were married at Laurens, Iowa, 18 Nov. 1892. Witnesses were Mr. & Mrs. L.R. Brower and Mr. & Mrs. J.R. Brower. (Jeremiah R. Brower)
The "he" in Mrs. Rople's letter was me. I told her I thought Tigar Mabb may have been Indian. Now everybody is taking the "may have been" as the gospel truth.
I have a copy of Leroy Brower's pension, It gives the name of his parents on his Marriage Certificate as Jeremiah Brower and Tigar Mabb. Leroy was born in Lewiston, New York. He was a Mason, age 52 years old when he married Katherine Bush, his second wife on Nov 20, 1901. That would make his birth year 1849. Yet his death certificate says he was born August 11, 1844.
I speculate that he ran away from home and lied to the Government about his age in order to join the army. The informant of the Death Certificate was W. Hale, Jr. at the State Hospital. Leroy joined the army Jan. 22, 1865. If he was born 1844, he would have been 20 years of age to join. If he gave his birth as 1849, then he would have been 16 years old. If his father was away at war, then Leroy could not have gotten his permission to join the army. And certainly his mother would not have approved of his enlistment if her husband and other sons were fighting. She would not have signed for him to join. So he ran away and lied about his age to get in.
Could you make a copy of Henry H. Brower for me? According to his marriage certificate Henry was 60 years old when he married his second wife in 1905. That would make him born in 1845.
According to my records Anna Birdie Brower was born at Mason City, Iowa, 1 Jan 1878. She was the fourth child of Leroy Brower by Clarissa Erica McIntosh. That would have made the Brower migration to Iowa about 1877.
Thank you for your response, look forward to hearing from you again.
Best wishes, Dennis Simpson
