There could be a connection. Most of the Bergan-Hackensack NJ Brower's of that era seem connected. 1726 is a little early for the father of my Jacob b. abt. 1785. His father would likely have been born in the 1750-1760's. Your Jacob of 1726 would fit in the same generation as a grandfather or great uncle.
