Familes that followed traditional Dutch naming patterns would often name children to honor people, especially grandparents. If a child named to honor someone died, the next child born (of appropriate sex) would be named for the honored person. Once in a while you'll find records that list three or four children with the same name. Odds are that the first John Brower Jr. died after Joseph Brower was born.
