Nicholas was born 1771 and many old records record him as "Nicholos Brower of Berks County Pennsylvania." He died July 10, 1847, in Randolph County, North Carolina. He was married to Mary Coble, daughter of John and Margaret Coble (Kobel). Nicholas owned land in Liberty, North Carolina, prior to moving to the lower right corner of Randolph County. There he ran a grist mill that he built. The township there is named Brower Township, after his youngest son Alfred, who was a state legislator. Several of his children moved west prior to the War of Northern Agression, and several of the others owned slaves who were buried in the family cemetary.
