I am a descendent of Adam Brouwer through his sons Peter, Jacobus and Nicholas.
My initial question pertains to my 4th g. grandfather John Taylor Brower, the son of Joseph Brower and Leah Brower. I have records showing Leah married to 2 different Joseph Browers. 1) Joseph Brower is shown as the son of Johannis Brower and Tryntje Waldron. 2) Joseph Brower is the son of Abraham Brower and Aefje Van Gelder. Which is the right Joseph Brower? Or are they the same Joseph, one with the wrong parents? Are Joseph and Leah 3rd cousins once removed?
Second question pertains to Leah Brower being the daughter of Lazarus Brower and Afyjee Brower. 1) Lazarus, is he really the son of Adam Brower and Deborah Allen? 2) Afyjee, is she really the daughter of Jacob Brouwer and Pietronella De La Montange? Are they cousins.
Your help will be greatly appreciated. I am ordering the book by William Brower Bogardus. How many pages is in it? Have you found it to fairly reliable?
I have 330 Brower or Brouwer names on my computer. My first grandson to be born this week will be the 15th generation American Brower. He is the 9th generation Latter-day Saint (Mormon) Brower. There is a plethora of Brower family history work that needs to be straightened out and filled in. WHERE DO WE GO IN HOLLAND OR GERMANY? We have only seen the tip of the mountain of genealogical research that needs to be accomplished. Thanks for any help that ALL OF YOU may share with EACH OF US.
This is my second week on the internet and I am amazed at the field that is white and ready to harvest on the internet. I have been doing genealogy for 38 years, but with the advent of the computer 80% of the 34,000 names I have on my computer have been found in the last 8 years. I am excited to find out what the internet is going to add to this treasure of ancestors that I have found.
