There is no doubt that the Jeremiah Brower who's will is probated 25 June 1813 is the same as the Jeremiah Brower we've been talking about. There is only one Jeremiah Brower who had a wife named Caty, only one son (named Henry) and lived in Paterson, NJ.

The will was not dated but I suspect that if the witnesses are his parents (presummed to be) Abraham Brower and Mary Elsworth, then it was written in 1806 probably just after Henry was born. Now, you have writen on a prior post here, a death date of 8 Aug 1806 for this Abraham Brower. What is your source for that date? In fact i believe this death date is incorrect, it belongs to another Abraham Brouwer.

Two things:
1- It would be interesting to find out where and with who, Henry Brower (1806-1895)spent his early years. His father died when he was 7 years old. When Henry appears in Mass. in 1850, he is a tailor, something he worked at his entire life. Where did he learn this trade? His mother is said to have died in Philadelphia in 1847. Did they live there? Did she ever re-marry? (She lived for another 34 years after Jeremiah died). How did he end up in the Boston area?

2- The other day I was searching on Google Books using "Henry Brower" (actually I was looking for info on another Henry Brower). I came across a Sons of the Revolution pedigree for Samuel Henry Brower (who would be you're Henry's grandson). His line was Samuel Henry Brower -> John Hawthorne Brower -> Henry Brower -> Jeremiah Brower & Caty Cole -> then Abraham Brower with the claim that Abraham served in the Orange Co. Militia during the Revoultion.
This is the problem. We believe that Jeremiah's parents were Abraham Brower & Mary Elsworth. This couple lived in Brooklyn, L.I. and during the Revolution took refuge in the area of Claverack, NY (all of the Brouwer families of Brooklyn fled after the British invasion of L.I. in Aug 1777). Afterwards they appear to have returned to Brooklyn and it appears that their children all settled in the Paterson and Newark, NJ area. This Abraham was never in Orange County. He did NOT serve in the Orange County Militia.
The Abraham Brouwer who did serve in the Orange Co. Militia was bapt. 7 Oct 1753 in Hackensack RDC son of Uldrick Brouwer and Nancy Campbell. He married Rebecca Stevens in 1782, and served in the Ornage Co. Militia during the Rev. War at Clarkstown (which was then in Orange Co., now is in Rockland Co.) THIS Abraham died 8 Aug 1806. His widow, Rebecca, filed for a pension in 1830. This family is lived their entire lives in Orange/Rockland Co. It is well established that this is the Abraham Brower who served with the Orange Co. Militia. Jeremiah Brower is NOT his son.

I've seen this countless times with DAR and Sons of the Revolution claims. There were numerous men named Abraham Brower living at the time of the Revoultion. And their are numerous claims of descendants of various Abraham Brouwers that it was their ancestor who served in the Orange Co. Militia. Militias are raised locally. Someone enlisted in the Orange Co. Militia would have lived in Orange Co. at the time of the enlistment. A man from Brooklyn, living in Claverack, would not of joined the Orange Co. Militia (he may have served in the Albany Co. Militia, however). In short, the claims of Samuel H. Brower that his ancestor Abraham Brower served in the Orange Co. Militia is incorrect. As I mentioned above, I have seen many of these confused claims accepted by both the DAR ans Sons of the Rev. Societies. Back in the early part of the 20th century when both of the societies were very popular, they really did a poor job of verifying the claims of the applicants. It's too bad, because now-a-days as people investigate their ancestry, there are a lot of false leads, and confused ancestors out there. You can look up Abraham Brouwer (1753-1806) and Rebecca Stevens on the Brouwer Genealogy Database. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~brouwergenealogydata/index.htm
