"Tennesseeans in the Civil War" A.J. Browder Pvt. Company E 4/th Inf. Regiment.
The regiment was orginazed at Germantown, Shelby County, Tennessee and imediately after organized moved to Randolph, Tennessee where it served in the River Bridage, under Brigd. Gen. John L.T. Sneed, provisional Army of Tennessee. On July 18 it moved to Fort Pillow, where it was accepted into Confederate service on Aug. 16, 1861
