Andrew, your copy of the marriage record is on its way. In regard to the Lopez/Broussard mystery, I've given it some thought. I remember when I was going through the records; I was confused by the interchangeable names of Andreas Lopes(z)/Andres Lopes(z)Deacuna, and Marguerite/Catherine Broussard. When I was searching the birth/christening records, I found NO children for an Andreas Lopes(z) Deacuna and a Catherine Broussard(post their 1778 marriage), but oddly enough, Andreas Lopez and Marguerite Broussard had the first child w/in 2 years of the "marriage of Deacuna and Catrherine.". As a matter-of-fact, I found no other record of Andreas and Catherine. When I sent off for the marriage record of Marguerite/Catherine, I received the one of which you now have a copy.

From all of this, I could only conclude that Andreas Lopez and Andreas Lopez Deacuna were one and the same, and that he used Lopez/Lopez Deacuna interchangeably. I had to come to the same conclusion w/ Marguerite/Catherine. But like you, I will continue to try to find-out if they are in fact four people rather than two.

One more thing, Marguerite's death record(1814) states that she is the widow of Andres Lopez, but also that she was 45 yrs. old at the time of her death. Well, do the arithmetic. If she was 45 at the time of her death, then she was 9 at the time of her marriage in 1778. Is the date/age(perhaps she was 54, rather than 45, if so, that would make her 18yrs. @ the time of 1778 marriage) on her death record wrong? It's possible.

We're right back where we started. Were Andreas Lopez and Andreas Lopez Deacuna one and the same, or two different people entirely?
