Dear Cecil,
Thanks so much for your reply. I have been in touch with Mitch Conover who wrote the Broussard books. Apparently the Philomene I'm looking for was born in 1856,was mulatto,was married to Aurelien Hebert, and her mother's name was Eliska Thibodeau according to the 1880 Census. Mitch thinks his book is wrong and this Philomene isn't the daughter of Pierre Arvillien Broussard. Perhaps Eliska was a Broussard slave whose master fathered Philomene. We're still trying to track it down. Any insight you have or info you find would be greatly appreciated.
