It seems I was in error, the contact I had had Jean Francois as the son of Urbain Brossard of Canada.
However, on Michael Conover's Broussard CD he cites the following information, giving his source as Stephen White, the noted Acadian Geneaologist and Historian of Moncton University;
Charles Broussard,s/o Pierre & Marguerite Bourg, m. Madeleine Leblanc,d/o Rene & Marguerite Thibault. They had to receive special permission from the church as they were cousins. Mr. White has determined that the only way they could be related this closely were if Charles' gr-father, Jean Francois,were the gr-son of Guillaume Trahan. Guillaume did have a daughter who is unaccounted for. The theory is she could have married a Brossard, died young, thus does not appear on any census or records. This seems quite complicated, but plausible, and perhaps merits more research. Mildred
