James Brough was christened on 8 August 1830 in Trentham. He was the son of Benjamin Brough (1802-1852) and (the first of Benjamin's two wives) Elizabeth Jones (1797-1837). This couple had eight children. The direct ancestry of Benjamin Brough goes back hundreds of years.
