Hi John,

I am a Brough pronounced Bro. I really have no idea where our roots lie, The English tell me that I'm probably not from their line because of the way we pronounce it. I did find a census record that had my GGGrandfather on it, and beside his name in parenthisis was (Burrow), now if you say Burrow, and Roll the R, it can come out something like Brough.

I'm also working on the assumption that perhaps we were Breaux and someone changed the spelling before 1850 (My earliest record so far). My people so far were from Georgia and Mississippi. I'm hoping to some how connect them to either the Brough/Breault the Brough/Breaux, or just the Brough's.

I've not found many other families that pronounce theirs Bro either.

Happy Hunting!
