Brotherton - Hazard, Kentucky

The following message was posted by my brother in February of this year. His computer is down so he asked me to repost it for him and possibly give a little more information.

"I would like to find about my grandfather, who died when my father was about 10 yrs old. His name was John Earl Brotherton, he died around 1940. My father used to receive invitations to attend a family reunion in VA. somewhere. I remember this when I was younger, but we never went to one. If anyone remembers attending such a reunion please let me know. I am new at this any help will be appreciated."

Here is what I know:

John Earl's wife was Julie. They had 5 children - Carl, John (Bill), Clarence (Homer), Sissy (not sure of her real name) and Charles. They lived in Lothair (Hazard) Kentucky while growing up then Carl and Homer moved to Lexington for several years then returned to Hazard. Julie died in 1977, Bill (my father) died in 1981, Carl died in 1983(?) and Homer died in 1986(?). Sissy and Charles died before I was born.

Unfortunately, my knowledge of the family history is very slim, but I would love to know more. If anyone knew any of the above mentioned or has any information please contact me either by posting here or by email.

Thank you!
Linda Brotherton Williams
