Dear Allan,
I have traced my line to a Hiram Brotherton in Genesee County, NY around 1840. He had an uncle there named Thomas, and another name in the family was William. I have more information about them which I would have to dig up. Hiram migrated to Cass County, MI, then on to Iowa. He had many children: Diane, Hiram, William, Winfred, are some of the names I remember off the top of my head. There is a William Brotherton buried in Genesee Co in 1825 also.
