Hope you are still keeping up with this forum. I know the abovepost is nearly a year old.
Have you had any more luck with the search for Caleb's father?
(BTW my line is Caleb, Isiah, Billy, James Monroe, Troy F, me)
You seem to assume above that Cloc (or Cloe) was male? Why? There were no adult males in the household in 1800 (or in 1790 for that matter) so I have always assumed that Cloc was a woman and most probably Caleb's mother (Mary who was HofH in 1790 would have to be his grandmother if this is the case but of course Mary could have been Caleb's mother and Cloc an older sister or Aunt) If Cloc was indeed female then the Old Irish word for bell would make sense wouldn't it?
I have always assumed that the name "Nails" was probably a misspelling of the Gaelic given name "Niall"
