There is a line of Broom/Broome/s that came out of Union Co NC and moved to Thomas Co, Ga. Francis Marion Broom and Jane Rachel Hayes moved to a farm near Pavo, Ga just before the Civil War. He went back to NC to enlist and returned sometime after the war ended. I have a fair amount of info on this line including directions to the old Francis Marion Broom homestead at a place the locals called Broom's Pond. I believe, but can't prove, that this line goes back to a Thomas Broom/Brome out of the Calvert County Maryland settlement named Broome's Island.
