The Brooms(or Broomes) are Scotch-Irish. I am gr, gr, gr, gr, gr, granddaughter of John and Sarah Broome who moved from Fairfax Co. VA to Mecklinburg Co (Now Union Co, NC.)about 1750. From my documents ..."John Broom was a prosperous man, acquired a lot of this world's goods, reared a large family, and died in the year 1784 an extensive land owner. His children were Walker, William, Jacob, Allan, John, Charity, Sarah, Lydia and Ann.

Walker (who named his 16th child "John") moved to Columbia, SC; Walker's 4th son, Phillip, moved somewhere west.

William's 2 sons, Levi & Joel, went to TN. (My gr, gr grandfather was Joel)

Allen had 2 sons, Noah and Jacob, who moved to Mississippi.

John, Jr., moved to Fairfield Co. SC.

My father was the only son of Isaac Clinton Broome and Mary Pauline (Molly) Gamble Broome of White County TN. I have quite a bit of information if anyone is seeking additional history.
