I was playing around and found this site. I happen to have a old notebook with me with Broome info. From the Clerk of Craven Co., NC loose papers and New Bern District Court records is found....Melus Broome, died Mar. 10, 1800. He owned 1250 acres in Greene Co., NC and 500 acres in Pitt Co., NC.....Petition of William and Melus Broome for division of their fathers estate. The other seven children of Melus (Sr.) were: John, Speirs, James, Sarah, Hannah, Polly and Nancy.
