I have a copy of a little book that was compiled by JOHN CALVIN BROOM, b. 22 May 1896
in Marion Co.,MS.

Around 1815 many BROOM, LOTT, WATTS, MARTIN, and GRAHAMS moved to Mississippi from the Carolinas, tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. Among them was UNK BROOM m. UNK.
They settled on Holidays Creek before 1818 and moved to Black Creek before the Civil War.

children:
1. HARDY BROOM b.1818 (there are two versions of where HARDY was born, some say NC. some say MS)
m. AMANDA CARTER b. abt.1818, d.1893-killed by a runaway horse.
d. 1890 of pneumonia
To this marriage were born nine children, between 1840 and 1862 in this order:
1. JOHN M. BROOM m. MARY ANN BLACKBURN
2. MARY BROOM m. JEFF MAGEE
