John Angus Broom b.4 july 1883, Effingham Co.,IL. Married Nellie Belle Schermerhorn b. 23 Apr. 1885, St.Louis, MO. She was the daughter of Algernon Vail Schermerhorn b.3 Oct. 1856/7, Ransom Co.,MI. and Huldah Arabelle Dillon b. 8 Nov. 1858 in Kinmundy, effingham Co., IL. John Angus Broom's father was Mohn Millard Broom b. 15 Dec. 1857. in IL. His mother was Mary Elizabeth Robertson b. 30 Dec. 1865 in IL. Algernon Vail Shermerhorn's parents were, Algernon sidney Schermerhorn b. 17 Oct. 1834 in Chatham, NY. and Ellen M. Doty b. 22 June 1836 in Rutland Co., VT. This line traces back to Edward Doty of the Mayflower. The Schermerhorns were from NY via Holland. Jacob Janse Scherhooren was b. in Holland in 1622, died in Schenectady, NY in 1688. His wife was Jannetje Van Egmont b. 1633 in Holland, d. 1700 Schenectady, NY.
