I have some Broomes in my family tree.

They are from New York state; Broome County is
named for them. I have been told that there is
a Clermont cemetery there where some of them are
buried.

One of my gg(?) grandfather's brothers was named
Edwin.

The Broome family I am tracking ties into the
Schermerhorns of New York. Though I haven't
documented it yet, I have been told by someone who
has proved reliable, that these Broomes tie
in with the Livingstons, one of whom,
Philip Livingston, signed the
Declaration of Independence. I really hope
this turns out to be the case, because some of
the DAR people will probably have some fine
genealogical material to tap into.

The name is from English admixture though most of the
line is old New York Dutch.
