Your John T. Broome would have an 1838 birth year. In 1838 John Broom of Walker County, GA. was married to Margaret (Head) Broom of S. C. and they did have a son in 1838 but his name John Louis Broom. John Louis married his first cousin Mary Ann Broom and they had 8 children all born in Ga. He and Mary Ann are listed in the Walker County 1870 Census with their first 3 children, William, David and Nancy. John Broom and first wife Margaret are buried at Dogwood Cemetery at Dogwood Baptist Church near High Point, Ga. His second wife Nancy is buried in her son Marcud D. plot at the Chickamauga cemetery in Chickamauga. I have been to Chickamauga and located Nancys grave and several of the children of she and John but was not able to locate Dogwood cemetery. John Broom and Margaret (Head)Broom came from Fairfield County S.C. in appx 1836 with their first three children, Margarets father John Head and John's younger brother James Monroe Broom. They show up in the 1840 census in Walker County.I have no research on Children of James Monroe Broom but do not think that your John T. is son of John Broom.
