Hi Dave, I was working on that line just last week. One Melius Broome, b. abt 1740, owned land in Dobbs (Greene Co.), Pitt Co. and Craven Co., NC. He had several sons, one of whom was Melius, Jr. b. abt 1780. I have not found a wife's name connected to 1740 Melius.
This is the line connected to James Emelius Broome, 3rd Gov. of Florida.
Another record of the same name-Melius- is found in NC to TN. see my posting of 10/16/98. This is quite confusing I know, several researchers are working on it. I've been looking for Miles Broom for about 20 years now...still can't find him. I'll get the data and e-mail tomorrow. Gwen
