This information was sent to me by someone researching the Meyer family of Old Barnwell, (Silverton) Jackson SC.

I believe this to be your John that was living about two miles up the Road from my Thomas Broom in Beech Island.

Barnwell Deed Bk T, Pages 124 & 125 - Wiley Meyer to John Broom, 6 acres where said Broom now lives. Signed Wiley Meyer, Ruthy Meyer. Sept 24, 1814. Witnesses: Robt Lowry, John Chavons.

They suspect, but really don't know, that Wiley could be the brother of their GGG GF Henry Meyer.

On another note this information was located on my Thomas Broom:

The State of South Carolina
Edgefield District

In Equity
Edgefield

To The Honorable The Chancellor of the said State.
Humbly complaining sheweth unto your Honors your oratrix Kezia Jane White of the District of Charleston and state aforesaid, as follows,
On Eighteen Hundred and thirty (1830) Thomas Broom of Edgefield District died intestate, ????? and ????? of a considerable estate both real and personal, and leaving as his heirs said distributes, his widow Unity Broom and the following children viz, Thomas Broom, James W. Broom, Samuel Broom, Mary Broom who married Claiborn C. Peay, Nancy Broom who married Philmore Bowers, and Eliz Broom who married George Starr. Afterwards within year 1833 the said Unity the widow died, and soon after her death, about 29th Nov. 1833, administration of the estate of said Thomas Broom deceased was granted to James Broom one of the sons of intestate who received and took charge and possession of the whole personal estate and the rents and ??? and profits of the land. Said administrator sold all the personal property and fully paid off and satisfied all debts against said estate, and has long since settled with and paid in full all the distributees thereof, except Samuel the former husband of your oratrix, & to pay over to him or to his representatives since his death his share of the estate of the intestate Thomas Broom, the said James W. Broom administrator has over wholly failed and refused.
Your oratrix intermarried with the said Samuel more than twenty years ago and not long after their marriage about the year 1833 the said Samuel departed this life intestate leaving your oratrix his widow and one child Kezia Josephine Broom his heirs and distributees. About 1836 your Oratrix married one John White who died in 1846 leaving your oratrix a second time a widow.
About the year 1849 the said Kezia Josephine died intestate thus leaving your oratrix sole surviving heir & distributor of the said Samuel Broom. On the Twenty Eighth day of May 1852, the ordinary of Charleston District granted letters of administration on the estate of said Samuel to your oratrix, who is ????? as administratrix to the possession of all the goods and chattles rights & credits ???? to him in his lifetime and at the time of his death did belong. He died in the District of Charleston of which he was a resident at the time of his death
And your oratrix ????? affirms and charges that the said James W. Broome administrator aforesaid has never paid out to the said Samuel in his lifetime nor to any one since his death, the share which belonged to him from and in his fathers estate, but the same was and is still in the hands of the said James W. Broom the administrator, who more than twenty years has used and enjoyed the same for his own benefit and advantages, and to the great injury and ?????? of the family of the said Samuel

I also have a good deal of other information on Thomas Broom that I’m trying to sort through, a lot of which is difficult to read. There is one document pertaining to the death of a Wiley Glover who died in 1847 or 1848. It is witnessed by Dr. Milledge Galphin. I believe this to be the Dr. Milledge Galphin, who in 1857 sold a house and 400 acres of land, in Beech Island, to former S.C. Gov. James Hammond. Gov. Hammond built a two-story plantation home, The Redcliffe Plantation.

I also have a copy of the will of your James Broom, brother to George, and son of John Broom.
