My name is Mary Lou Broome Campbell....You sound the closest to family names and being from N.C. My Dad was Louis Dixon Broome, II, his father was Louis Broome from N.C., not sure where, John is a family name and Monte. We know very little about family, here is the story. Broome is not the original spelling of the name, my Daddy told me the spelling, but I don't remember it exactly, however our ancestors were of French descent, they left France during the Neopolantic War and went to England where the name was changed to Broome. They left England and came to America landing in N.C. My Daddy's Daddy, Louis left to N.C. and went to Arkansas and was never again in touch with the family in N.C. He was a farmer in Arkansas and quite well off....his Father and/or his brother was named John. Several years ago I went into a fabric shop here in Corpus Christi, TX.....the man, who was the owner looked enought like my Daddy to be his twin brother....the name of the shop was Broome's Fabrics. I introduced myself and asked where he was from, he was from N.C. I went back and took a picture of my Daddy.....he said my daddy must be the son of his Dads Brother who left N.C. and was never heard of again. He said someone in the family worked for the Dept. of Disease Control or something like that in Atlanta, Ga. I was going back to visit with him and get some phone number, etc., and he passed away. If you think we might have a connection would love hearing from you and receiving any information or names you have. Thank you.
