I just got back from a trip to Vicksburg National Military Park-extremely impressive!
My gggrandfather was Farley Brookshire.Since he and his family were listed on the 1860 Benton Co AR census, and one of the children was Farley age 16,I feel sure the military papers I have of Farley Brookshire who enlisted at Camp Benjamin,Ar in 1861,is this Farley, age 16 in 1860.The only things in his military papers are payroll records until the last which shows him being taken as a prisioner of war July 4th,1863,the date of the surrender of Vicksburg. The last page is a copy of his parole papers.
While at the park,I told one of the park rangers about him.She gave me a map with the exact place marked of his unit. When we got there,it had a marker about the 15th infantry,so I was able to take pictures!
