I am a descendent of Jesse Brooks through his son Henry Abram. There are actually THREE sets of children listed in your message.
Jesse is the son of Abram Brooks and Dorcas Meeks. He was born about 1822 in Meriwether County GA, and married his first wife Caroline Lord about 1838 in Meriwether County--these Brooks tended to marry REALLY young.Anyway, the first 3 sons you listed are the children of Henry and Caroline. About 1847, Henry married Eliza (last name unknown) and James, Archibald, Columbus F., and Leroy belong to them--they also had children after 1860, Laura, A.T. and G.A.The last two children, Martha and Henry are the children of Jesse's brother Britain Brooks (b. 1832) who died about 1858 in Meriwether County. In addition to Jesse and Britain, Abram and Dorcas had Mary Ann, b. about 1818, Archibald, b. abt 1820, Rosannah, b. about 1824, William R. b. 1827 and Francis M. b. 1834.There may have been another daughter but I have not been able to track her down for certain.
Although I don't know who the father of Abram is, I do have TONS of information about this family, including Dorcas' father, Britain Meeks who was a Revolutionary War Veteran.
I don't know how these Brooks tie in with the Thomas Jefferson Brooks branch of Brookses, but I think that perhaps Thomas Jefferson and Abram might have been cousins or otherwise related because they were in pretty close proximity and some of the same names appear in both families, although that really doesn't mean anything.
Are you a descendent too?
I hope this helps.Let me know if you want more information.
