The Kellam book is "Brooks and Kindred Families" by Ida Brooks Kellam(1950).This book starts with John Brooks, Sr and basically details of his family, but has other Brooks families also.
Daniel McKenzie and all Sawyers were in Jones county in 1811. A Simpson Sawyer, son of Elkannah Sawyer, is in 1830 Monroe county, Al, so he is a possiblity as a father of Priscilla. He is living two h/h's from Benjamin. Rebecca Brooks Sawyer was married to Lathrop Sawyer who was in Jones county in 1811.
A Samuel Brooks bought land in Monroe county, Al in 1826.A John McKenzie bought land in Monroe county, Al in 1825.
Benjamin Brooks bought land in Monroe county, Al in 1829.
This Samuel Brooks is not found in 1830, so he must be dead, but he is obviously not the Samuel Brooks who died in Baldwin county in 1820. So we have at least two Samuel's living about the same time and from the same general area of Ga. The connection is that both may have been married to Sawyer's.
Priscilla Brooks and family are still in Monroe county in 1840. During the 1840's, Priscilla and family move to Leake county, MS. She is living with her son John in 1850.
Rebecca Sawyer is living next door.
Elkannah Sawyer came out of Edgefield county SC. He is there is 1790 and 1800. In 1808 he buys 101.5 acres in Jones county, Ga in district 9 lot 164(west half). He is paying tax on 405 acres in 1811.His sons,Simpson and Ralph are also paying tax.
In 1820, Elcanah Sawyer, Ralph Sawyer, Simpson Sawyer and Wylley Sawyer are all found in Conecuh county, Al.There is also an Edward Brooks there in 1820.An Edward Brooks is also found in Jones county.
Ekannah Sawyer had a daughter name Polly, who married a ? Brooks. They had a son name Benjamin. She may have been married to Edward Brooks, so another possiblity is that Benjamin's father is Edward Brooks.
My Samuel Brooks who died in 1820 Baldwin county, had a son name Elkannah and a son name Wiley. Both are Sawyer names.
One last note, in 1850 Leake county, MS there is also a Robert Brooks age 46 from Georgia. Since Priscilla and family moved to Leake county there may be a connection between these two families also.
I have more data on various Brooks families who came through Jones county and am still working on connecting there various families.
