Shirley, I haveread your posts with interest because of similar naming patterns in my line.My grandfather was Thomas Jefferson Brooks, born in GA in 1860.I cannot find his parents on the 1860 GA census.I do know that they, William J. Brooks and Mary Jane Swanson, married in Troup County in 1854.They were on the 1870 and 1880 Harris County censuses.I cannot find the parents of William J., born in 1832, who were supposedly born in GA also.I believe that Mary Jane was one of Nathan Graves Swanson's orphans who was born in Greene Co.My Brooks were associated with Daniels, Walkers, Pratts and others in Harris. The Walkers had been on the 1850 Franklin Co., GA census and the 1840 Oglethorpe census.
Two of the Warren Co. Joab Brooks' daughters married Pratts and moved into Harris Co.I have not been able to connect these two families.
At least three of William and Mary Jane Brooks' children moved into Chambers Co., AL.Another was in Randolph Co.
I would like very much to find these parents of William J. or to connect to his siblings that I do not know either.
