The two families could be connected, but I don't know how. I have found the children of John Brooks born 1757 and Jane Stanfield Brooks born 1760. Mary, eldest dau. born about 1781, Joel, eldest son, born about 1784, Sarah born about 1786 and Samuel born about 1791. There could be others, but this is all the quaker records list. They were living in Randolph County, North Carolina in the early 1800's. In August 1797 Mary Brooks maried Shubal Gardner. The 1815 tax records show Shubal Gardner and brother-in-law Joel Brooks.
