Ms. Russell:
I chanced across your November 13, 2001 email on the Brooks Family Genealogy Forum. The coincidences in names and dates, not in location, caught my attention and hence this response.
Albeit a long shot,I am an adoptee searching for information on my genealogy, particularly on my birthmother.I was born November 12, 1955 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho.I know nothing factual about my birthparents beyond my hospital name of Baby Boy Simmons, presumably after my birthmother's name.According to my deceased adoptive father, Dr. Robert Wright Brooks (OB/GYN), my birthmother was an unwed (college?) student at the time of her pregnancy. My birthfather was older than she and possibly a personal friend of Dr. Bruce Budge in Boise, the physician who oversaw the pregnancy and delivered me.My adoptive Dad was born on February 25, 1919 in Racine, Wisconsin, raised in Wichita, schooled in Lawrence, Kansas, practiced in Denver and Boise, but mostly in Sacramento, California after 1956.He died May 25, 1999.Dad's older brother, whose name escapes me, was a professor at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, but he died in his 40s in the 1950s.Other than that connection to Alabama, I know of no Brooks tie from my side.
Nevertheless, you can understand my surprise at and interest in your email.Could any of the above background on me remotely relate to your genealogy search? In any case, thank you for your attention and for the opportunity to write.Your email was the first reference I have ever seen with my birth and adopted names together. That was a treat by itself.Best.
Respectfully, Travis
