Hello Jane,
No, I haven't anymore information on William Hawthorne. My father's family lived in Decatur/Grady county and William was just collateral work.
I have worked on the father of Benjamin and believe he is either a son of Edward Brooks or a William Brooks. Both were in BaldwinGa in 1807 as was Benjamin and both moved to JonesGa as did Benjamin. I'm more inclined to William Brooks, because he went to MonroeAl about the same time that Benjamin did.In fact, William Brooks and Edward Brooks could be brothers. Both came from EdgefieldSC at the same time and both were back and forth between HancockGa and Edgefield between 1794 and 1805.
Benjamin married Prissa Sawyer, who I believe is a d/o Elkannah Sawyer.Edward Brooks married Sevility(Cevility)Sawyer, a s/o Elkannah. There is also a Samuel Brooks who named his children after Sawyer names and could also be a brother of Edward and William.
This is all speculation as to whether they are brothers, but still working on some sort of proof.
