Sarah Brooks married Jacob Slaughter, Jr.(Schlotterer) of NC. His father and 3 of his brothers came in 1749 on the "Chesterfield" into Philadelphia. The family moved to NC and owned land. Jacob and Sarah lived in Sullivan County, TN. I found a paper copied from "Hail, Haile, Hale" by Charles M. Bennett of Jonesboro, TN, which lists some other Brooks in Sullivan County and wondered if anybody can show me a connection to my Sarah Brooks. Somebody told me Sarah came from Prince William Co.,VA. I wondered if her family moved to NC or did she meet and marry Jacob in TN?
There was a Clarissa Elizabeth Brooks b. 1824 In Sullivan Co., TN, who m. Gabriel Morgan, Jr. and later moved to southern Illinois. She had brothers, Enoch and Daniel and possibly Jesse. Clarissa was close to Sarah's age. Their father(not named)had a brother Daniel. Daniel's son, Noah, moved to southern Illinois near his cousin. Ring a bell? Thank you for any help you can give me.
