Carol, Thank you for sending me this info. I posted this query awhile back and a lot of what you have sent me I have found since then. The major hang-up I have is finding info on Anderson Brooks. I have the 1880 census where Anderson was married to Mary E Lane. I haven't found any info on him. The census says he was born in NC in 1820. I haven't been able to find the info for this birth or early years. I agree with you he must have had another family before he married Mary and had my great grandfather V. K. V. K.'s son, Irvin was my grandfather. He and Christine Owens married and had 2 children, My mother, Sylvia Gayle Brooks Wells and Donald Irvin Brooks. Gayle has passed, but my uncle Don is still alive and he is the last of the Brooks' as his brother, Millard, only had one daughter. I will try to contact him and see if he would be willing to do a DNA test.
