Clark A. was born, 21 May 1871, son of David and Lucretia (Hendrickson) Brooks, natives of Canada and Ohio, respectively. David, who spent his life as a farmer, died at Iroquois, SD. Lucretia, daughter of Samuel Hendrickson, died at Glendive, MT.Children of David and Lucretia:Mrs. J.C. Brooks (died near Intake, MT); Mrs. John Kennedy (Glendive, MT);Milo A. (ranchman near Intake, MT, died 3 Mar 1919).
Clark A. Brooks spent his childhood on a farm in the vicinity of Iroquois, SD. On 31 Mar 1891, Clark A. Brooks arrived in Glendive, MT, where he worked in the shops of the Northern Pacific Railway Co., later becoming brakeman.He then became a bookkeeper of the Douglas Mead company until the spring of 1910 when he came to the new town of Savage and became a member of the firm Brooks and Patterson, a general store.He also acquired a ranch near Savage, MT.
On 3 Jan 1903, Savannah, Andrew Co., MO, Clark A. married Julia C. Powell, daughter of Clarence Powell. Brooks children:Donald, Charles, Lois and Florine.
