Noel: I don't have any info indicating these Brookins are related either. In fact, prior to 1860 her name is spelled Brookin without the "s" and both her tombstone and obit give the name Brookin. By the way, I believe the 1850 census gives sons Samuel and Henry but somehow the sex of Sam is listed as female. Go figure. I can't find this Martha in the 1860 census but she reappears in the 1870 census living with her daughter. I do have unsubstantiated info that Martha had a brother Stephen who passed through Little Rock on his way west (Texas?)and he brought her some money, her share of the family estate. Stephen was never heard from again and was presumed killed. Who knows?
