It is qyite possible that there were 2 William Brookes and that the first on died as an infant, so they gave the name to another child born later, which was quite a common occurence in those days, I am related to the Cheshire Brookes but my family did at one time live in Staffs where some of their family was born, Do you recognize the names Thomas, James, Joseph or Samuel waiting to hear from you and good luck with your search. By the way I am in touch with a Brooks descendant in Australia who is searching for a John Brooks who married an Annie Bunn in Stoke Staffs,and worked in Burslem does this ring any bells with you
