My gggrandmother was Nellie Armsted Broocke b. 1874 Petaluma CA, Her father was was Lewis Elliott Broocke, b. ? d. 1892 CA. Lewis (I believe) had family in Tacoma WA and/or lived there at some time. This spelling is not common. I don't even know where to start. Do you think it's a dutch name? It makes sense that you have Broocke in VA as Lewis Elliott Broocke married Elvira Frances Dunn, and the Dunn family seems to have begun in Virginia. Elvira was born in OLd Virginy, which is now West Virginia. Can you help me?
