I am seeking info. on Susannah Brooke who m. James Vass from Forres, Scotland in about 1798. They lived in Fredericksburg, VA. His half-sister, Jane Morrison m. William Brooke. Their son was the Hon. James Vass Brooke of Warrenton, VA. William Brooke was the son of William Brooke "the elder" who is said to have married _________Fontaine and who was the 2nd son of Robert Brooke, Jr., Knight of the Golden Horseshoe. I got all of this info. 30+ years ago from "The Brooke Family of Virginia", an article written by Prof. St. George Tucker Brooke, Morgantown, W. Virginia. I found the book on Virginia Family History in the public library in Baton Rouge, LA. I would like to have more information concerning the Brookes, particularly the connection with Susannah Brooke Vass, as we named our daughter after her. She is my daughter's ggggrandmother.
