Hello:

I think we've exchanged email before. My ancestor is William Brooke s/o John and Sarah (Harout) Brooke of Charles County. William probably married in Charles County to Nancy Lovelace, had a couple of children and then moved to Surry (now Stokes) County, NC where he had several children before moving on to Franklin County, Indiana where he died in 1823. I descend from a second marriage, possibly to Sarah Black.

At the death of their father in 1765 the younger brother Wallter recieved property called Hopewells Amendment which went to William if Walter died without heirs. Walter may have been on the militia list of 1780-81 and died unmarried in 1782. William did inherit the land and sold it in 1787 to his brother in law Stephen Howison who married Mary Brooke.

Would be interested further in your interest to William. Have been working on ancestors of John with limited success.

Thanks

Chris Brooks
