Ted,
I am a descendant of Felix Brooks of Butler Co., AL. He and a Preston Brooks are listed in the 1840 federal census for Butler County. As my memory serves me, they were the only Brooks in the county at the time. I have always thought they might be related but don't know how. My Felix died about 1850 and I think Preston died about 1870. Could the latter be your Preston's son? The Butler Co. Preston was a War of 1812 Soldier from either Oglethorpe or Wilkes Co., GA. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Milton
