'Nether reaches',indeed!! After three hundred years you are still in Somerset County. It is obviously an earthly paradise and I stand corrected...I was not so wrong however when I speculated that the origins of the Brokaw family might be less French than Walloon. In that, I was clearly ahead of the pack. Parenthetically, I can understand how the swamps of New Jersey might seem more attractive than the nether reaches of Belgium. Even after three hundred years!
