As you mentioned, Lt. John Brokaw died in the Battle of Germantown. He enlisted in Cpt. Peter Vroom's company, and fell leading his men, in Germantown, Pa. His friend and neighbor, Joseph Stull was by his side when he fell and took charge of his body and returned his possessions- his watch and sword, returning them to his family. Later, he married Lt. Brokaw's daughter, Phoebe. In the sping of 1779 Gen. Washington, who was staying at the Wallace House in Somerville, NJ heard of Lt. Brokaw and rode to the Brokaw house that day to call on his widow. Gen. Washington was deeply affected upon entering the home and spoke many kind and comforting words to his widow, expressing his sorrow for her bereavement. This has always been regarded as one the most dear examples of the tender heart of the Father of his Country. I will continue to see if I can find info on where he was buried, as it appears he was buried in Pa, near where he fell.
